A walk through the forest. The sunlight playing on the forest floor and then the light coming through the trees give the feeling of having arrived at a place to listen to the silence and sounds of the forest.

Wonderful green colours, these are woods that are not familiar to me since I am use to warmer weather.
These pictures bring to my imagination scenes from Grimm’s tales.

Well done Richard, I really like them especially the one with the dirt road, it looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I like the 2nd. picture most. It looks like view of fox sneaking through the forrest.
The 4th. one is also nice – it generate feelings of summer, joy, safety and happiness. It could serve as propaganda picture of some green political party or some church.

Andrej, thank you for your comment. I see that your preference lies in images, which have certain direction. And propaganda, Oh mine! Please not!

The first is too blurry for me, the second from a viewpoint I don’t identify with.

I like the third the best. The third is everything I like in the forest: damp, colors muted by the diffuse light, here and there a patch of vibrant colors picked out by the sun shining through the canopy.

The fourth has some of that too but it is also obviously a road and that gives it more a park like feeling.

    Cheers Richo.

P.S. I was reminded of a photo I took on a vacation in a forest but I cannot find it now. Maybe I’ll find it and post a link.

      Ah, here it is:

      https://www.dropbox.com/s/4jrpxxj3pfol5du/2013_01_20_12_45_30.jpg

The quality is not too good as it was scanned from photo using a scanner not meant for photo’s, but hey.

Lots of memories from this vacation. (First time I had a girlfriend)

      Cheers

    Hi Richo,

Read your storyboard on the right. The 4th pic fits the best with it for me. A path in the forest with some strange looking trees along the road. Looks like they lost something.

Did you leave some crumbles when you were deep in the forest?

Niels, nice to hear from you. It is great that you took a look to my new series of images. I was using GPS to get out of forest :-) Too many hungry animals around…

Yesterday I have added new image to this series about deep forest. I was last week in Scotland and I have found one there as well. If you like to see it come back here. I have one more to add today or tomorrow.

I made some more for this series but have not put them on line, yet. Something holds me back, seems too easy.

Once you in the forest you have many options to choose from. Many directions to go. There never is only one way and never only one destination. In this photograph i liked to express that feeling of light and dark passages on our way. There should never be feeling of lost or confusion. I am sure that in moment you feel lost, only thing one need is to lie in grass, take time and the feeling for direction will come.

This is much easier to understand once you experience same. If you still confused in the middle of a forest you more certain of confusion that of possible direction. At the end, forest is not only something to get out of, it is also place of possibilities and journey. The destination on its own is nothing, the journey is the real thing.

In our lives we always go after the destinations and once we there we feel lost. Let us enjoy the journey, feeling lost or not, let us look around and see how beautiful the forest is.
