Friends walking

After few days of cold, sunny and snow days all that optimism is gone in rainy and grey days. I find it very depressive and sometimes even difficult to go on. So I went and I play with some older images. I have discover another candidate for Serene Mind series. Sometimes it is really eye opener to look at your old images. Look and see them with new eyes of today. So it happen also with following image, only I have dilemma. Should it be in color or b&w. I tend to lean towards color (maybe because of the dark grey days). What is your opinion?

I much prefer the b&w version, personally.

Paul, thanks for the answer, but could you tell me why? I feel the b&w could be better and in this moment I tend to like the color more.

    Hi Richard,

I prefer the color one. The b/w one is too depresive

    Happy new year!

Depressive is more appropriate, look at the sky on the photo – it’s changing radically.
The color image is warm and cozy (two old friends recalling memories), while the b/w one is cold and unfriendly

That is very interesting, I guess it really depends on what you or me want to see. Same image completely different choices based on what we feel and like to feel.
          Thank you.

I wasn’t paying enough attention. I like the bw precisely because it has a darker feel. Now I realize that the title is Friends Walking, which probably should be a little more upbeat, visually — more lyrical than, as iurie said, depressive.

Unless the title is meant to be ironic, in which case I vote for the b&w once again :)

I see Paul, I though about it and no the tile is not meant to be ironic, but even friends not necessary need to walking in sunny pink country. Friendship is much more valuable when things turns the other way around.

I am going to publish different b&w version of the same image in few minutes.

Maybe you wouldn’t expect it from me, but I like the one in colour more. Just a bit more to recognise in there, I think. Or maybe that’s all it is, me thinking that there’s more to recognise. (Is it a beach, with the sea showing on the right, below the horizon? Could be in the north of France). I find that the B&W version leaves too little to the imagination, it feels too dark, too much despair.

Then again, if you’re looking for another Serene Mind candidate… that whole series is in B&W, if I’m not mistaken. So… Let me have a look at your next post, comparing two B&W versions.

    Hi Richo,

    Happy New Year !

The color is much better because the B&W version is too dark, the all corners are too dark.
