Things and letters…

Reading, teaching, painting living room and trying to organize back to every day life. All those and more are the daily things which keeps me busy. I have head full of that experiment with jelly on the filter. I have plan to extend in that direction a bit more and try some more different modifications.

I also moved all my new images from Japan to my NAS and going through. There is series of images I shoot in the middle of the night with high ISO at the street with cold light. They look rather interesting.

Also another issue I like to resolve, come back to printing. I have very few prints ready in my shop for sale and it happens that I need to print on request that takes some extra time. I also had habit to print every new image I was proud of and let it see some friends. I would love to come back to that again.

So all these is going on I guess also some more. Some time ago I have read book about Dezo Ursiny, those where actually his letters to a woman of his heart. Now I am reading letters from Vincent van Gogh. I was playing with idea to write similar to this blog, there is only one, but huge difference. This blog and I guess every blog is so unpersonal, I have no idea to who I am writing…

You are writing for yourself, just like you are photographing for yourself.

Well, that is not true. I would write somewhere else, diary perhaps. Why I would put all that for public to see?

Why are you posting your pictures on the web then…

I put images on web to receive feedback from people. But when I write I distinguish between for who I write. If I would write for myself I would write different things and different way. When I write for public I need to do certain level of selections on topics and on way. Probably a lot of things would be absolutely boring. Same when you talk to people you do not know you are selective in what and how you say it.

I think I disagree with this slightly. Photos and words are pretty much the same. Feedback from the web is not very valuable, most of the time. I maintain that you do the publishing of these things mostly for yourself as it sometimes helps to articulate things in public. If you look for real feedback it may not be worth doing in public rather than private.

For me is always difficult if I do not know for who I am writing. When I take picture I take it because I like to express something for other to see, understand. That is also why I put it on web if I am satisfied with it.

But personal blog writing is for me not the same for me. I like dialogs much more, as you can see ;-)

But I have notice, that if something is going on and I have colorful and active period I write far far more. When there is daily routine running for few days I feel empty and it’s apply not only for writing.
